Violinist — COMPOSITIONS: An Evening of Katie Jenkins
Pointeworks is seeking a professional violinist to join the creation and performance process for a new ballet score by Resident Composer Katie Jenkins as part of COMPOSITIONS: An Evening of Katie Jenkins, presented October 18, 2026 at the historic Balboa Theatre in San Diego. The evening features three original ballet commissions performed entirely with live music.

We Are Looking For
Professional violinist with strong classical training
Excellent collaborative skills
Comfortable working in a creative process with dancers, choreographers, and composers
Experience performing contemporary and newly commissioned works preferred
Strong sight-reading and rehearsal preparation skills
About the Project
COMPOSITIONS: An Evening of Katie Jenkins is Pointeworks' first full evening dedicated entirely to live music, featuring original ballet commissions by leading female choreographers and an international cast of artists. The production will be performed at the Balboa Theatre on October 18, 2026. The selected violinist will help bring a new Katie Jenkins score to life through both the creative development process and final performance.

Volunteer with Pointeworks – Summer 2026 (San Diego)
Pointeworks is seeking a small team of 5 volunteers to support our Summer 2026 season in San Diego, running May 25 – June 13, 2026.
This is a great opportunity for high school students, college students, or community members interested in the arts to gain hands-on experience supporting a professional ballet company.
Role Overview
Volunteers will assist with light, event-based support and community engagement throughout the season. Responsibilities may include:
Event check-in and guest welcome
Assisting with concessions or Pointeworks merchandise in the lobby
Supporting season events (set-up, light hospitality, distributing materials)
Helping share flyers and promote performances within the community
Acting as general support staff during performances and special events
Volunteers will work directly with Pointeworks’ Marketing & Events Outreach Coordinator, AvaRose Dillon, gaining insight into event production and audience engagement.
Commitment
Approx. 10 total hours across the season
Typically 2-hour shifts across ~5 events between May 25 – June 13
