Discover Our Impact Since Our 2024 Debut
our impact
Pointeworks is a ballet company dedicated to fostering artistic excellence, innovation, and accessibility. Our mission is to provide off-season employment opportunities for dancers, offering year-round work beyond the typical 30-35 weeks that most ballet companies operate. By creating new work during the remaining weeks of the year, Pointeworks fills a critical gap in the dance ecosystem, offering professional engagements that allow dancers to continue their craft year-round. We also amplify diverse voices in ballet, particularly those of female choreographers. Through collaboration with dancers, choreographers, musicians, designers, and artists from across the United States, we ensure that creativity thrives from New York City to Southern California.
Our inaugural performance took place on June 20, 2024, at the Baker Baum Theater in La Jolla’s Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center in San Diego. This sold-out event featured world premieres and highlighted female voices in ballet, marking a significant milestone in our artistic journey.
In March 2025, we expanded to New York City for our second season, with performances at the Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater. This strategic move allowed us to reach new audiences, gather artistic feedback, and offer choreographers exposure to key dance professionals. Our NYC tour featured performances on March 21 and 22, open rehearsals on March 17 and 19, and a panel discussion on March 19 at Alvin Ailey Studios with guest speaker Ashley Bouder, exploring the role of women in ballet and the need for greater representation in leadership and creative roles. Dancers from renowned companies like New York City Ballet, Texas Ballet Theater, and Dance Theatre of Harlem participated in the tour.
New York City provided a vital platform for choreographers to gain exposure to influential professionals in the ballet world, further elevating Pointeworks’ artistic profile. By presenting new works in this environment, we continue pushing boundaries and ensuring that we remain relevant within the evolving dance industry.
In line with our commitment to accessibility and community engagement, we provided over 200 tickets to students and veterans, ensuring broader access to the arts. Our New York City tour employed more than 20 NYC-based artists, including dancers, choreographers, musicians, rehearsal directors, lighting designers, and costume designers. We also offer a digital streaming platform, enabling audiences to watch performances for just $5, extending our reach beyond the theater.
In June 2026, Pointeworks returned to Southern California to further deepen our local impact. Our performance at the Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center in La Jolla welcomed over 400 attendees, while our Irvine show attracted more than 500 guests—including 167 complimentary tickets distributed to students, veterans, and first responders—underscoring our ongoing commitment to accessibility and community outreach. Additionally, our Open Rehearsal Series engaged over 100 audience members, providing a unique behind-the-scenes experience that fosters a deeper appreciation of the creative process. These events reinforced Pointeworks’ role as a vital cultural presence in the region and demonstrated our dedication to cultivating meaningful connections between artists and audiences.
As we continue to grow, Pointeworks remains committed to fostering innovation, elevating diverse voices, and ensuring that ballet remains accessible and relevant for future generations.
