Last June, during Pointeworks’ Season 2 rehearsals, we welcomed photographer Douglas McMinimy into the studio to document the intimacy of creation—moments of partnering, trust, and the process that shape new work before it reaches the stage.

This January, those behind-the-scenes moments will be on view as part of Museum Suite: A Collection Performed in Nine Movements, an exhibition celebrating the dialogue between dance, photography, and visual art at the San Diego Museum of Art. Seeing this work move from rehearsal to gallery has been a meaningful extension of Pointeworks’ commitment to process, collaboration, and artistic exchange.

This free, public event will feature a moderated panel discussion with artists and mentors who have transitioned into new professional chapters—both within and beyond the arts. The conversation will focus on career pivots, transferable skills, entrepreneurship, and finding purpose after or alongside a life in dance.

Pointeworks will host an intimate, invite-only Composer’s Circle featuring the first unveiling of a new original score by composer Katie Jenkins, with live insights from pianist Joshua Mhoon and violinist Julia Choi. The evening will also highlight the creative process of Jacquelyn Long, collaborating choreographer for Pointeworks.

This private gathering brings together arts and music patrons for an inside look at the creative heartbeat of our upcoming season.
