A dedicated cultural ambassador, Jenkins has made it her mission to bring Welsh classical music and identity to the forefront of the global stage at the highest level. Jenkins was recently awarded the American Prize in Composition for her original musical This Land of Ours (2024).

Jenkins earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in composition from The Juilliard School, where she studied under Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Melinda Wagner and held the Henry Mancini Fellowship. She was on faculty at Juilliard Pre-College until 2026, where she taught screen scoring and music production and recently began as an adjunct composition professor at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Inside the Music of Chasing Shadows

Composer Katie Jenkins on Pointeworks’ New Ballet - The title Chasing Shadows captures that feeling of striving for something just out of reach—an idea reflected in both the music and movement. Jenkins crafted a score blending rhythmic intensity and heartfelt, slow passages to complement Habony’s signature choreography.
