Our Mission

Recognizing the inherently seasonal nature of a ballet dancer’s work, Pointeworks provides professionally paid, off-season opportunities that keep artists engaged throughout the year.

We bring dancers, choreographers, composers, musicians, and interdisciplinary artists together to create original work, expand access to professional ballet, and amplify diverse voices—with a particular commitment to female choreographers and artistic leaders.

What We Do

Pointeworks strengthens the future of ballet by:

  • Creating professionally paid, off-season employment for exceptional artists

  • Commissioning original ballets and musical scores

  • Bringing together leading dancers, choreographers, composers, musicians, and interdisciplinary artists

  • Presenting world-class performances on both coasts

  • Championing female choreographers and artistic leaders

  • Inviting audiences into the creative process through open rehearsals and studio performances

  • Providing mentorship, education, and direct access to working professionals

  • Offering free and pay-what-you-can community programs

  • Removing barriers to attendance through sponsored tickets for students, veterans, first responders, military families, and community organizations
