Commissioned by Pointeworks in New York City in 2023, The Tides is a pas de deux by Leiland Charles, created for Sophie Williams and Valentin Batista.
The work went on to become a three-minute dance film, with concept and direction by Sophie Williams and videography and production by Alexander Sargent, set to “Stream” by Adrián Berenguer.
The film was selected for the international dance films program at the 2024 Utah Dance Film Festival and has streamed on Prime Video and Marquee TV.
