Jacquelyn Long – New Work Commission ($8,000)

This sponsorship supports the creation of a brand-new ballet by Jacquelyn Long, Soloist with Houston Ballet and a rising choreographic voice. Your gift directly underwrites Jacquelyn’s commission fee, enabling her to step into the studio with Pointeworks dancers to shape a new work that will premiere in La Jolla in June 2026.

About Jacquelyn: Jacquelyn Long began her career with Houston Ballet in 2012 and was promoted to Soloist in 2016. She has performed leading roles including Sylvia, Cinderella, and Hermia in Neumeier’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. As a choreographer, her works include Illuminate for Houston Ballet and it just keeps going at Miller Outdoor Theater. Pointeworks Season 3 will mark her first commission with the company.

Keerati Jinakunwiphat – New Work Commission ($10,000)

This sponsorship makes possible a new creation by Keerati Jinakunwiphat, one of the most sought-after choreographers of her generation. Commissioning Keerati allows Pointeworks to bring her distinctive Thai-American perspective and high-energy, contemporary movement vocabulary into the ballet canon. Your support underwrites her artist fee for creating this new work in San Diego.

About Keerati: Born in Chicago, Keerati trained at SUNY Purchase and has been a member of A.I.M. by Kyle Abraham since 2016. She has choreographed works for New York City Ballet, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Fire Island Dance Festival, and MASS MoCA, among others. In 2023, she became the first Asian American woman commissioned to choreograph for New York City Ballet. She is a 2023 Princess Grace Award winner in choreography and a 2024 Artist-in-Residence at the Baryshnikov Arts Center.

Katie Jenkins – New Score & Recording Session ($8,000)

Pointeworks is commissioning a brand-new score from composer Katie Jenkins for Season 3. This sponsorship covers Katie’s composition fee and the recording session that will bring her music to life. Katie’s sound world is a powerful blend of her Welsh heritage and the vibrancy of New York City, earning her commissions from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Juilliard Orchestra, and NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. Her music has also been championed in the dance world, including past collaborations with Pointeworks and the New York Choreographic Institute. Supporting Katie’s commission means you are underwriting the creation of a brand-new piece of music that will live on beyond the stage.

About Katie: Katie Jenkins is a multi-award-winning Welsh composer and producer based in New York City. Her music has been performed at Abbey Road Studios, Lincoln Center, and Jazz at Lincoln Center, and she was recently awarded the American Prize in Composition. She is also on faculty at The Juilliard School, where she teaches screen scoring and music production.

Joshua Mhoon – Pianist: Rehearsals, Recording, Performance ($4,000)

Live music is at the heart of Season 3. This sponsorship supports pianist Joshua Mhoon as he works side by side with Katie Jenkins and Pointeworks dancers throughout the rehearsal process, recording session, and final performances. Joshua’s artistry brings nuance, dynamism, and immediacy to the creation of a new ballet, giving dancers and audiences the chance to experience live performance at its most vital.

About Joshua: American pianist Joshua Mhoon is one of the most exciting young artists in classical music today. A Young Steinway Artist, he has performed at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and internationally across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. In 2025, he was named Artist-in-Residence at the inaugural Piano Festival of Saudi Arabia. A Silver Medalist at the Nina Simone Piano Competition, he has shared the stage with Yo-Yo Ma, Lang Lang, and Emanuel Ax. Joshua’s artistry is shaped not only by his Juilliard training but also by the musical traditions of his Chicago upbringing, which lend his performances a unique voice.

Sofiane Sylve – Rehearsal Director ($10,000)

This sponsorship supports Pointeworks’ ability to bring in world-class coaching from Sofiane Sylve, whose artistry and expertise shape the caliber of our dancers and performances. Sofiane first joined Pointeworks in 2025 to teach company class, coach Christopher Wheeldon’s Carousel Pas de Deux, and oversee rehearsal processes.

In Season 3, Sofiane will return as Rehearsal Director for the full four-week residency in San Diego. She will teach company classes, assist in the creation of Keerati Jinakunwiphat’s new work, and stage a luminous pas de deux by choreographer Dani Rowe. This work, UnSaid, holds special significance: it was created on Sofiane during her career at San Francisco Ballet, and she remains the only dancer ever to have performed it. Pointeworks will be the first company to bring this intimate and powerful duet back to the stage.

About Sofiane: Sofiane Sylve is one of the most acclaimed ballerinas of her generation. She danced with Stadttheater Dortmund, Dutch National Ballet, New York City Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, and Semperoper Ballett. Following her performance career, she became Director of Ballet San Antonio and founded the San Antonio Ballet School. Today, she holds the prestigious position of Artist in Residence at the National Ballet of Canada and is an essential part of Pointeworks’ artistic team.
