March Choreographic Residency

The open rehearsal experience

International Women’s Day - March 8, 2026

Hosted at the iconic Alvin Ailey Studios in downtown Manhattan, Pointeworks held another rehearsal for Danielle Diniz’s new choreographic work titled The Rule of Three. But this time, with an audience of guests seated at the front of the room.

This event was not a performance, instead an inside look into the process of creating new ballet.

After Director Sophie Williams introduced the artists and gave a brief speech about the work, attendees watched Diniz coach and rehearse dancers along with a full run of the work.

After the rehearsal, the floor opened for the audience to share questions they had about what they witnessed. This time for an open floor creates another level of transparency that Pointeworks is proud to encourage in our events. Dialogue between dancers and audience members is rare in classical ballet but we aim at breaking down those barriers with open Q and A periods in all of our events.

It was an honor to share our female-forward mission on International Women’s Day and provide an opportunity for NYC residents to support a female artist in a male dominant industry.
