Keerati Jinakunwiphat
Keerati Jinakunwiphat is a New York City–based choreographer and dance artist originally from Chicago. She has performed with and created work alongside artists including Kyle Abraham, Trisha Brown, Jasmine Ellis, Shannon Gillen, Kevin Wynn, Doug Varone, among others. Keerati joined A.I.M. by Kyle Abraham in 2016 and went on to choreograph her first work for the company in 2019.
In 2023, she made history as the first Asian American woman commissioned to choreograph for the New York City Ballet, premiering Fortuitous Ash set to music by Pulitzer Prize–winning composer Du Yun. Her choreographic work has also been commissioned by A.I.M. by Kyle Abraham, the New York Choreographic Institute, Houston Contemporary Dance Company, Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, Bang on a Can, Princeton University, PARA.MAR Dance Theatre, Whim W’Him Seattle Contemporary Dance, and the Fire Island Dance Festival, among others. Her work has been presented at venues such as The Joyce Theater, New Victory Theater, MASS MoCA, Lincoln Center, Works & Process at the Guggenheim, New York Live Arts, and Chelsea Factory.
Keerati was featured on the cover of Dance Magazine as one of its 25 to Watch in 2021. Her honors include the 2023 Jadin Wong Fellowship for Artists of Exceptional Merit from the Asian American Arts Alliance, a 2023 Princess Grace Award in Choreography, and a 2025 NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship in Choreography. She was a 2024 Artist in Residence at the Baryshnikov Arts Center, where she premiered her first evening-length work, Of Dishes and Dreams, and is currently a 2025–26 Artist in Residence at 92NY’s Harkness Dance Center.
She earned her BFA from the Conservatory of Dance at SUNY Purchase, where she was also a recipient of the Adopt-A-Dancer Scholarship. Her training includes studies at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, and Springboard Danse Montréal. Keerati has served as an adjunct faculty member at SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Dance, Marymount Manhattan College, and Barnard College/Columbia University.
Keerati will be creating a brand-new work for Pointeworks Season 3 which will premiere at the Conrad Theater in La Jolla in June, 2026.
