Marcos Ramirez
Marcos Ramirez is a Cuban ballet dancer and Lead Dancer with Los Angeles Ballet, where he has performed since 2020. Born and trained in Cuba, Marcos brings a powerful classical foundation combined with a dynamic contemporary presence.
He began his formal training at the Escuela Nacional de Ballet de Cuba, where he studied for eight years before graduating in 2018 joining the National Ballet of Cuba company
At Los Angeles Ballet, Marcos has danced numerous principal and featured roles, including Prince Désiré in The Sleeping Beauty, Prince in Cinderella, Cavalier in The Nutcracker, Principal in Rubies by George Balanchine, Kaschei in Yuri Possokhov’s Firebird, Gustave in La Dame aux Camélias, and principal roles in works by Justin Peck, Christopher Wheeldon, and Annabelle Lopez Ochoa. His repertoire spans classical, neoclassical, and contemporary works.
Marcos has also appeared as a guest artist internationally, performing at the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, Italy, the World Ballet Festival and many others
An accomplished competitor, he is a Bronze Medalist (2017) and Silver Medalist (2014) at the International Competition of Ballet Schools in Havana, and a First Place Winner at YAGP Philadelphia Regionals (2019).
Marcos is featured in the documentary film To Dance Like a Man, which follows the journey of the Cuban ballet triplets Angel, Cesar, and Marcos Ramirez Castellano, and has been highlighted in The Philadelphia Inquirer.
