Where No Storms Come
A new ballet for five dancers and live string quartet, with an original score by Resident Composer Katie Jenkins and choreography by Hélène Simoneau. These rehearsal excerpts offer a first look at music and movement taking shape together ahead of the October 18, 2026 world premiere.

Moving Forces

Our resident composer
Katie Jenkins
Jenkins’ music connects the intimacy of chamber performance with the expressive possibilities of ballet. Her original scores are at the center of Pointeworks’ COMPOSITIONS program.
In September 2026, Jenkins conducted an excerpt of Symffoni’r Môr Mawr — A Transatlantic Symphony at the Library of Congress, where the work was presented as Wales’ musical gift to the United States for the 250th anniversary of American independence. Its score joins the Library’s music collections.

Julia Choi
Violin
A member of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra’s First Violin Section since 2019, Choi has also appeared with the Philadelphia Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, and San Diego Symphony.

Piano
A Young Steinway Artist and Silver Medalist of the inaugural Nina Simone Piano Competition, Mhoon brings an international performing career and musical roots in both classical tradition and Black American music.

Viola
A Starr Doctoral Fellow at Juilliard, Klein’s work spans chamber music, contemporary premieres, and historical performance. He joins the live quartet for the world premiere of Where No Storms Come.

Violin
A graduate of Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music and Oberlin Conservatory, Fetten performs regularly with the San Diego Symphony. Her orchestral and chamber work includes appearances with the Pacific Symphony, Silk Road Ensemble, and Boston Philharmonic.

Cello
A contemporary cellist, composer, and multidisciplinary artist, Bui holds degrees from New England Conservatory and UC San Diego. A dedicated collaborator on new music, he performs with East Coast Contemporary Ensemble, Palimpsest Ensemble, and Alinéa.

Violin
Ukrainian violinist Manchur has appeared as a soloist with the Lviv Philharmonic, Oakville Chamber Orchestra, and Guelph Symphony Orchestra. Trained at The Glenn Gould School and USC Thornton, she has participated in Verbier, Pacific Music Festival, and Music Academy of the West.
