Museum Suite: A Collection Performed in Nine Movements — Exhibition Opening Performance

January 29, 2026
Museum of Photographic Arts at The San Diego Museum of Art
Balboa Park, San Diego, CA

Pointeworks is honored to perform as part of the opening of Museum Suite: A Collection Performed in Nine Movements, a landmark exhibition presented during the centennial celebrations of the San Diego Museum of Art.

About the Performance

During Pointeworks’ Season 2 rehearsals last June, photographer Douglas McMinimy joined the company in the studio to document the intimacy of artistic process—capturing moments of partnering, trust, and creation as dancers shaped new work.

That rehearsal-room collaboration is now on view in Museum Suite, an exhibition that transforms the gallery into a space where photography, dance, and visual art engage in dialogue.

To mark the exhibition’s opening, Pointeworks will present a live performance excerpt from Chasing Shadows, danced by Sophie Williams and AvaRose Dillon, bringing movement back into the gallery and completing the arc from studio to stage to exhibition.

About the Exhibition

Museum Suite: A Collection Performed in Nine Movements explores the relationship between dance and visual art through photography and live performance. Working with dancers from San Diego’s vibrant dance community, Douglas McMinimy reinterprets masterworks from the Museum’s collection—demonstrating how art inspires movement, and movement, in turn, generates new art.
