As part of this month's Arts District Liberty Station First Friday, the Visions Museum of Textile Art and Pointeworks will present a unique collaboration celebrating the transformative power of textiles across artistic disciplines.
The museum will feature artist Peggy Brown's work and creative journey from paint to fabric, highlighting how textiles can become a medium for storytelling, expression, and imagination. Alongside the exhibition, Pointeworks will showcase the artistry behind ballet costume design, tracing the process from initial sketches on paper to fully realized garments brought to life onstage.
Both exhibits will be on display at the museum throughout the evening, culminating in a live performance by Pointeworks dancers at 6:00 PM. The performance offers audiences a rare opportunity to see textile art in motion, as costumes, movement, and visual storytelling converge in a living work of art.
This collaboration explores the rarely discussed connection between textile artists and ballet costume designers, both of whom begin with an artistic vision and transform fabric into a storytelling medium.
No RSVP needed, this is a free event featuring numerous San Diego artists, organizations, and activities. Go to https://libertystation.com/events/first-friday-arts-district for more information on the events.
