blind date with a ballet

Guests went on a blind date—with a ballet.

For this intimate studio event, attendees selected either Ballet A: The Slow Burn or Ballet B: The Spark without knowing which work they would encounter. Each group then stepped inside a different 45-minute working rehearsal, experiencing a distinct side of Pointeworks’ creative process.

Ballet A: The Slow Burn was revealed as an excerpt from Dani Rowe’s UnSaid, an emotionally nuanced duet exploring quiet tension, restrained connection, and everything that remains unspoken between two people.

Ballet B: The Spark was revealed as the pas de deux from Andi Schermoly’s Romeo and Juliet, capturing the passion, tenderness, and exhilarating immediacy of young love.

Following the rehearsals, both groups came together for drinks, conversation, and the opportunity to meet the artists and discuss the works they had experienced. The event offered a rare and highly personal window into two contrasting ballets as they were prepared for Pointeworks’ Summer 2026 program, Nocturnes.
