  • 2 weeks in residence at Baryshnikov Arts Center & New York City Center

  • 10 dancers, 2 musicians, and 10+ collaborating artists employed

  • 48 pre-professional & professional dancers served through subsidized company classes

  • 4 public and patron events welcoming audiences into the creative process

  • 1 full new ballet created, with an original commissioned score

  • 2 new partnerships with Steps on Broadway Academy and New York Film Academy

Why This Residency Mattered

  • New Creation: Choreographer Jacquelyn Long created a full new work—her first set on dancers outside Houston Ballet and her first to an original commissioned score by Katie Jenkins.

  • Live Music at the Center: Musicians Joshua Mhoon (piano) and Julia Choi (violin) were embedded throughout the process, shaping the work in real time.

  • Access & Education: From Steps on Broadway Academy masterclasses to NY Film Academy student filmmakers embedded in rehearsals, the residency centered learning, mentorship, and access.

  • Artist-Centered Model: Pointeworks prioritized fair pay, live music, and pay-what-you-can access

Community Impact

The residency deepened relationships and built new ones—welcoming first-time donors, re-engaging returning patrons, and strengthening partnerships. A Dance Dialogue panel—featuring eight women choreographers, composers, directors, and guests from Dance Data Project—sparked an impactful conversation on today’s dance landscape. Studio-based experiences once again proved to be our most meaningful bridge between artists and audiences.
