Season III Opener: PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the official launch of our Summer 2026 season — our third year presenting dance in La Jolla!

On Friday evening, patrons, artists, friends, and supporters gathered at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego for a celebration of Pointeworks' journey: honoring our past, sharing the artists and works shaping our present, and looking ahead to an exciting future.

Set against the backdrop of the Pacific Ocean, guests enjoyed live music by jazz vocalist Cobby and her swing ensemble Vintage Girl in a Modern World, cocktails and desserts by Urban Kitchen Catering, an exhibition of costumes from previous Pointeworks productions, and special performances from our Summer 2026 repertory.

As the sun set over La Jolla, we celebrated not only how far Pointeworks has come, but the community that continues to make this work possible.

Now to the Ballet Performances...

The evening featured excerpts from two works that audiences will experience this season.

Transcendence, choreographed by Reka Gyulai, returns following its acclaimed premiere in 2025. This powerful contemporary ballet explores resilience, connection, and transformation.

Guests also enjoyed a preview of Moving Forces, a new commission by Jacquelyn Long with an original score by Katie Jenkins. Inspired by the elemental forces of nature, the work brings together movement, music, and visual imagery in a dynamic exploration of air, water, fire, and earth.

Thank you for being part of the Pointeworks community. We look forward to sharing the rest of this remarkable season with you.

See you at the ballet!
